With almost four hours, the film was the longest feature of its time. But not only the length was a record, also the budget of the production, close to four million dollars, were a record in the late thirties. But it was worth it: "Gone With The Wind" earned 14(!) nominations at the 1940 Academy Awards and ended up winning eight in total!
