The orginal script for "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" was about 145 pages long. Steve Martin later asked the producers about the length of the script and claimed that the first cut of the movie would have been four and a half hours long. Rumor has it that the original first cut does in fact exist, probably locked somewhere in the Paramount vault.
