Any film buff will know that as far as costume blunders go, "Gladiator" is way up on the list. "Maximus" (Russell Crowe) wears spandex shorts over his tunic during his fight with a tiger. Needless to say, spandex, or for that matter any kind of synthetic fiber, did not exist in Ancient Rome.
