Steve Brookstein was the first ever "X Factor" winner in 2004. However, he did not go on to have a very successful career and was dropped by his label SonyBMG just eight months after having been signed. He has had several very public rows with Simon Cowell about how he was treated by the show and released an album tellingly titled "Forgotten Man" in 2014, which did not make it into the charts. He did have some success though, with his tell-all autobiography about his time on the show. "Getting Over the X" was a bestseller on Amazon!
