Barbara Bush, the former first lady of the United States, died on April 17, 2018 in her Houston home of complications from COPD. While her husband, President H.W. Bush, was in office from 1981 until 1989, she founded the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. Mrs. Bush died at the age of 92, surrounded by her family.
