American actor, stuntman and circus performer Michu Meszaros played "Alf" in the popular series. He was just 33 inches tall, but was a well-known TV actor in the 70s and 80s. For the first "Alf" series Michu wore a costume, but, as it was very hot, a mechanical puppet was used in the later series and Michu voiced the character.
