Jim Carrey did not have much growing up. He lived in a Volkswagen van with his parents for a long period of time. He had to take on numerous jobs in his teenage years such as being a janitor or working construction to help support his parents. In 1978, he decided to quit school and move to Los Angeles. He didn't get his big breakthrough as a comic until 1982. Ten years later, he became world famous with his role in the hit comedy "Ace Ventura".
