At the beginning, the sitcom was actually supposed to be called "Hammer Time". In order to avoid confusion with the M.C. Hammer song, the sitcom was renamed to "Tool Time" for the pilot episode. Later on, the series' producers changed this name to "Home Improvement", since they didn't want to call the sitcom exactly like the TV show in the series.
