Julia Roberts received an Oscar nomination for her role as the prostitute "Vivien Ward", who falls in love with Richard Gere. Good for her, but she actually wasn't the first choice for the part: Jennifer Connelly, Molly Ringwald and Daryl Hannah were all supposed to play "Vivien", but turned it down.
