The series was named after Roseanne Barr, who also played the main role. Roseanne became known as a stand up comedienne and that always showed throughout the entire run of the series - she was often sarcastic with her husband "Dan", but still loveable. For her role, Roseanne Barr won numerous awards, among others, a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award.
