In 2006 he was nominated for an Oscar for his role in "Brokeback Mountain". In 2008 he played the "Joker" in "The Dark Knight" and gave a sensational performance. In the same year, the successful actor died from acute intoxication, having consumed a cocktail of various painkillers and sedatives. Heath Ledger was awarded a Golden Globe and an Oscar "Best Supporting Actor" for his role as the "Joker" posthumously.
