Before dancin' it up in the 1984 classic "Footloose", Bacon played the troubled "Tim 'T.J.' Werner" on the soap "Guiding Light" in 1980. It wasn't until his role in "Diner" (1982) that teh young actor start to gain traction in Hollywood. His role in "Diner" eventually lead him to star in the cult classic "Footloose".
