Maria Kutchera was always a free-spirited independent woman who was always destined for greater things. After being in the Nonnberg Benedictine Covent in Salzburg for a short period of time, Mother Abbess, one of her supervisors, sent Maria to work as a governess for the "von Trapp" family. After teaching the "Trapp" children how to sing, she also wins the heart of father "Captain von Trapp" and later marries the lucky ex-officer.
